The Vice President of the Russian Olympic Committee, Vladimir Vasin in an interview to Russian newspaper Sovetskiy Sport claimed that a KHL player will most likely carry the Russian flag at the Vancouver Olympics' opening ceremony.

Vasin: "The opening ceremony will take place on the 12th of February. Our hockey players will arrive in Vancouver one day before and will play only on the 16th, so it is quite logical to choose the standard-bearer from the hockey players. This player will be from the KHL."

Q. Maybe you should choose Sergei Fedorov, the most experienced player?
Vasin: "Why not."

9 out of 23 players in the Russian Team will represent the KHL, they are: defencemen Ilya Nikulin, Dmitriy Kalinin, Konstantin Korneev, forwards Sergei Fedorov, Danis Zaripov, Sergei Zinoviev, Alexander Radulov, Viktor Kozlov and Alexei Morozov.

Who do you think will carry the Russian flag?

I've always thought the flag-bearer should be someone who exemplifies the Olympic spirit for all athletes, not simply because he or she is a team captain. When Fedorov walks into that stadium, I hope he's carrying the flag because he deserves the honor for all his past achievements, for the sacrifices he made that young people today can't even imagine, and for helping to change that world and our wonderful game. It's a no-brainer, sweetie. Fedorov!

Thanks for your comment, Flying Cloud. By the way, tell us what your nickname means!
I agree with Alexander and I say that I'd pick Morozov. Probably Fedorov would deserve it more, but Morozov is the team's captain.

Of course I hope it's Fedorov, my favorite athlete, going for his third medal in what is most likely his last Olympics. Who could better represent the Olympic spirit than a guy who so courageously gave up everything for his sport, transcending politics, and helped open the borders for so many others?

I'd say it's 50-50% between Fedorov and Morozov. And if it was for me to choose I'd choose Morozov.
